1. Global Talent Visa- subclass 858.  

The Global Talent Independent Program for Australia includes the Global Talent Visa-subclass 858. Highly skilled individuals can apply for permanent residency in Australia under this program. 

It is important to demonstrate that you are one of the best in your field of expertise in order to qualify for the global talent program. Besides that, you must demonstrate how your presence in Australia will benefit the economy or society. 

You are eligible for a Global Visa if: 

  • Your globally recognized achievements in one or more of the following areas:
    • A profession 
    • A sport 
    • The arts 
    • Academia and research 
  • An acceptable sponsor has nominated you:
    • An Australian national. 
    • An Australian permanent resident. 
    • An eligible New Zealand citizen. 
    • An Australian organization with a widespread reputation in the same field as you. 
    • The top Australian group in your field (if applicable). 
  • Australia will benefit from your contributions in the following ways:
    • Economic improvement 
    • Social development 
    • Cultural richness 
    • International achievements in sports, arts or academia. 
  • In your field, you are among the best. 
  • From Australia, you can apply for one of the following visas:
    • A bridging visa A 
    • A bridging visa B 
    • A bridging visa C 
    • A substantive Australian visa 
  • It’s essential that you have a standing reputation in this field for at least two years. 
  • Before applying for a visa 858, you must have held a visa 494 or a subclass 491 for at least three years.

2. Employer Nomination Scheme Visa- subclass 186. 

186 Visa- Employer Nomination Scheme, is a permanent work visa granted to foreign workers who Australian patrons nominate. According to your qualifications, there are several visa streams available for employer nomination scheme 186. Another key point is that in order to apply for a visa 186 stream, an eligible sponsor msut nominate you. For a 186 visa, you can choose from one of the following streams: 

  • A direct entry stream.
  • A labour agreement stream. 
  • A temporary residence transition stream. 

3. Permanent Skilled Regional Visa- subclass 191. 

Applicants will be able to apply for Visa 191 starting November 16, 2022. Upon receiving this visa, certainly you will be able to reside, work, and study in Australia for the rest of your life. Additionally, if you lived, worked, or studied in a specific regional area in Australia and had a previous Australian visa, you can apply for visa 191. Applicants who meet certain criteria can apply for citizenship using this visa. 

4. Regional Sponsored Migration Visa- subclass 187. 

A Regional Sponsored Migration Scheme (RSMS) visa is a type of work visa for nominated skilled workers. In order to qualify for this visa, you must have lived in Australia previously under another work visa, the sponsor must nominate you, and the nominated position must be in regional Australia. For as long as you wish, you can live, work, and study in Australia with a visa 187, and if you are eligible, you can apply for citizenship. 

5. Skilled Employer Sponsored Regional Visa- subclass 494. 

When you have a 494 visa, you have the permit to work in specific areas designated by your sponsoring employer. Using this visa, Australian businesses can sponsor skilled workers in their specific region to fill labor shortages. Here is a condition that an Australian worker cannot fill your nominated position if you qualify for a 494 visa. Additionally, you must have extra-ordinary skills and ability to work legally in Australia. 

6. Skilled Independent Visa- subclass 189. 

The skilled independent visa is available in two streams for overseas workers and New Zealand citizens. Another key point is, this visa is points-based, so to qualify, you must have at least 65 points from the skills table. Upon receiving this visa, you will be able to live, work, and study in Australia for as long as you like. 

7. Skilled Nominated Visa- subclass 190. 

If you are invited and nominated to apply for a 190 visa, you can receive a permanent work permit. In order to receive a nomination, you must meet the points requirement and be an accomplished individual. 

8. Skilled Recognized Graduate Visa- subclass 476. 

For those who wish to remain in Australia after graduation, there are several options available. Graduates with an engineering degree who are looking for a specific work visa should apply for this one. In order to get a 476 visa, you need a degree from a recognized institution in order to work, live, and study in Australia for a limited period of time. This is around 18 months. 

9. Skilled Regional Visa- subclass 887. 

Permanent work visas are only granted to people who have previously held temporary work visas. In order to be eligible for a visa 887, you must have previously lived and worked in a specific area of Australia during your previous visa. Additionally, you may apply for Australian citizenship after a few years of holding an 887 visa, if you meet the eligibility criteria. 

10. Skilled Regional (Provisional) Visa- subclass 489. 

A 489 visa can be applied for if you held a skilled regional visa previously. Likewise, visa 489 is temporary, but after a few years, it can be converted to a permanent one. 

11. Skilled Work Regional Visa- subclass 491. 

The 491 visa is only issued to highly qualified and skilled individuals. A visa 491 requires you to meet the points requirements and to submit an expression of interest. Permanent residency is available after three years with a 491 visa. Most of the states and territories of Australia are included in regional Australia, except for Sydney, Melbourne, and Brisbane. 

12. Temporary Activity Visa- subclass 408. 

During the lockdown, visa 408 was issued to those who had expired visas during the COVID. Normally, once your Australia visa has expired, you can either apply for a new visa and stay in Australia with a bridging visa, or leave the country. The pandemic caused many people to be unable to leave the country, so visa 408 was created to allow them to stay legally in the country. The visa 408 requires you to have the means to support yourself while you are on it. This means you must be employed in Australia or have sufficient funds to continue your stay. 

13. Temporary Graduate Visa- subclass 485. 

Depending on your occupation, you can choose between two streams for a 485 visa. For instance, if you are interested in applying for the graduate work stream, you must have an occupation listed among the skills occupations. It doesn’t matter which stream you choose, visa 485 lasts only two to four years. In order to get a permanent visa, you’ll need another work visa. 

14. Temporary Work International Relations Visa- subclass 403. 

There are six streams of this visa, and each stream has its own requirements. In order to apply for this visa, you must meet the eligibility criteria for the stream in which you are eligible. 

15. Temporary Work Visa for Short Stay Specialist- subclass 400. 

This visa is designed for people with specialized skills that are in short supply in Australia. Usually, this visa is valid for 3 months, but in some cases, it can be extended to 6 months. 

16. Temporary Skill Shortage Visa- subclass 482.

In order to apply for a visa 482, you can choose between three streams. A company must nominate and sponsor you to get this visa. A few years after the visa expires, you can apply for permanent residency. 

Age limit for the work visa 

There is usually an age limit for work visas. To be eligible for it, you must be between 45 and 50 years old. It depends on the type of work visa you are applying for, but some work visas have no age requirement. 

Processing Time for Australia Work Visa  

It usually takes one or two years to process the work visas. You should keep in mind that there is no gauarantee for the processing time for the work visa. Additionally, many factors can affect how long it takes. Some short-term visas can take just a few months to process. On the other hand, some streams within visa subclasses may be processed even more quickly. In the event that something is missing from your application, it will delay your processing time. 

Cost of Australia Work Visa  

An Australia Work visa costs between AUD315 and AUD4,115. However, in some subclasses, you don’t even need to pay the fees. Now this depends on which stream you apply for.
